Thanks to a $94,000 grant from Salt Lake County, the South Salt Lake approved a new ordinance to redevelop the city’s downtown district.
The master plan includes the development of 2,500 housing units and 3 million square feet of commercial space. The new downtown district will pave the way for job creation, affordable housing, and entrepreneurship. The project has substantial community support, and will lead to an economic revival for the South Salt Lake area.
“Like many communities, we sometimes feel like we are reacting to development proposals instead of getting out in front of them, said South Salt Lake City Mayor Cherie Wood. “The TLC program was a game-changer in creating our downtown and will steer how we grow for decades to come.”
